"He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure." Psalm 40:2

Thoughts on Modesty for the Holiday Season

Caroline of Deborah & Co (formerly The Modest Mom) has begun a series over at The Modest Mom blog entitled Dressing for the Holidays. I resonate with Caroline’s perspective on modesty so much, and am really looking forward to this series. She offers wonderfully practical advice on the actual selection of clothing, coupled with a biblical perspective and a visible heart for pleasing her Savior. Her post today addresses having a spirit of modesty:

“A modest woman is right in her relationship with God. She is focused on living for him and not all about living for the latest fashion statement, or for a compliment on how she looks.  A modest woman is humble in her spirit. She is not brazen or forward in her actions. She does not seek the attention of men. She does not strive to be the loudest person in the room (nor does she make it her life goal to be the quietest person in the room-more about that later).

Trying to have a modest spirit means you are striving for humility in your life.”
