"He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings." Psalm 40:2

Weekend Links 12/1/12

Links I was blessed by this week:

The Aroma of Christ at FeedingonChrist.com {because this is a wonderful overview of Scripture’s teachings on the aroma of Christ – I’d never thought through this topic at all before. How wonderful to think that “Jesus Christ allures His people with His beauty. He is the only One who can draw our hearts away from sin. We avoid the pleasures of the world by turning to Jesus instead.” and that in the NT “Paul says ‘we are the aroma of Christ to God.’ …the ministers of the Gospel are themselves also the aroma of Christ.”! Good read!}

Feminism’s Radical Agenda at Nursery of the Nation {because Christian women need to wake up and see feminism for what it really is, not just for its seemingly noble rhetoric. “Satan’s ideologies can’t ever just stop with social issues, they always go to theological ones. It can’t just stop on the social level, it’s got to assault God because unless God is dethroned and the God of Christianity is eliminated from their thinking, they’re going to have to deal with the Bible and that’s a problem.”}

Idolatry in the Rearview Mirror at Out of the Ordinary {because pining after a hope deferred and obsessing over what could have been are both sins alike, and both steal our focus from where is should be}

Thoughts on enjoying holiday meals without the junk at Keeper of the Home {because the holidays aren’t an excuse to fall off the responsible eating wagon}

Don’t Undersell Your Commute at Desiring God  {because even though homemakers don’t typically commute to work, we do have commute-like times that we tend to undersell…like running errands alone, or those couple of hours of quiet at home when Hubbie or Grandma has taken the kids somewhere…how might we “commission” these times to our Lord & King?}

This week…

…I’m reading ~ The Brokenhearted Evangelist by Jeremy Walker and Communion With God (Puritan Paperback version) by John Owen, abridged by R.J.K. Law

…I’m doing ~ restarting the couch-to-5k running plan, prioritizing extra non-homeschool time with the children, and choosing not to make mountains out of mole hills (though I can’t decide which category fits the recurring pile on the coffee table…)

…I’ve been memorizing (or reviewing) ~ Psalm 119 Aleph, Beth, & Gimel (v. 1-24)

…I’ve been making ~ sourdough bread for the first time – and fresh waffles for lunch today 🙂

…I’m praising God for ~ my restored health, and the crazy amazing design of the human body (the more I study the more my jaw drops and my heart rejoices. God is awesome!)
